The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gas Vs. Electric Pressure Washing Systems

If you have tough cleaning jobs around the home and don’t know how to go about getting the job done – read this first. Perhaps you have considered many methods of cleaning that have proven to be time consuming and labor intensive. You may now be considering investing in an electric or gas pressure washing system to get the job done in less time and with less effort.

A gas pressurized cleaning system is much more powerful than an electric one

Most gas units have a psi rating of 2,000 to 2,800 compared to an electric system with only a 1,300 to 1,700 psi rating. The difference can be seen in how it cleans surfaces such as concrete and siding, but you do not want something so powerful that you end up doing damage to the structure you are trying to clean.

Having such a highly pressurized system can prove to be hazardous as well because there is always the potential for injury to occur with flying debris because of the high amount of pressure being used to clean surfaces. It is best to wear protective gear such as safety glasses or goggles and boots and long sleeve clothing in order to work with gas powered machines and even for the electric ones for ultimate safety.

The advantages of the gas over the electric cleaning system is the amount of pressure that is used to clean. Gas powered cleaners also take a lot of care to maintain especially during the winter months in colder climates as you must put antifreeze in the lines to keep them open so they don’t freeze up during the winter.

Electric powered washers are not so cumbersome to deal with and can be stored inside without having to do any special preparations to maintain it during the winter months. It may be less pressure to clean with but the electric power system works just as well for everyday cleaning jobs around the home and can get things just as clean with a little extra time and effort. This system is is a much better choice for around the home use if you don’t have heavy cleaning that needs to be done and also is cost effective in the long run.

Gas powered systems cost around $300 compared to electric systems that cost around $90 so if you are looking to save money then buy the electric powered cleaning system is your best bet. It is just as effective but takes more time to clean surfaces, is a lot safer because of the reduced pressure and does not use gas which can be hazardous to store in closed in areas.
